This visa addresses the skill shortages that exist in regional areas of Australia. Applicants under this category must be prepared tolive for two years and work for at least 12 months in a regional area of Australia, or one with a low rate of population growth.
The visa is valid for 3 years and there is an option toobtain a 1 year renewal if the applicant is not yet in a position tomeet the criteria for permanent residence.
toqualify for skilled migration, you (or your partner) must be able tosatisfy the basic Visa requirements, obtain sponsorship from a participating state/territory government and meet the pass mark of 100 points.
You must meet specific age requirements, English language ability, minimum qualifications level, selection of a nominated occupation and recent work experience.
Upon satisfying certain residence and work requirements, you may qualify for permanent residence. This second stage may also require sponsorship from a participating state/territory government.
It is possible toqualify for permanent residence after living for two years and working full time for a total of 12 months in a regional area of the sponsoring state/territory.
